Welcome to the DUMC Troop 84 Website!

Boy Scout Troop 84 was chartered in March of 2011. We currently have 23 Scouts and are a very active Troop. We believe the principles of Scouting are best taught in the outdoors. We camp every month of the year and offer a mix of backpacking, car camping, lock-ins, and as always, summer camp.

We pull from Rock Springs and St. James Elementary, North & East Lincoln Middle & High School, Lincoln Charter, Stanley Middle, and Southlake Christian Academy. We serve our community by volunteering in many ways such as outdoor cleanups, helping the American Legion, collecting food for local food banks, and lots of other areas. We believe that serving others helps to instill the qualities of the Scout Oath and Law, encourages good citizenship, and will eventually produce responsible leaders who want to give back to their community.

We are currently chartered by the American Legion, Post 30 in Lincolnton, and were previously chartered by Denver United Methodist, who we still work closely with and meet in our facility behind their church.

If you are interested in participating in Scouts, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the "Contact Us" link to your left on the screen and fill in the information and someone with our Troop will be in contact with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Cory Sides - Scoutmaster

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – We had a great time at Sawmill last weekend! Thanks to all the leaders who came out and a special thanks to Mr. Giles and Mr. Kitsinian for opening up the repelling tower and Mr. Bonner for keeping us safe on the range! We had several first time repellers and everyone had a blast (pun intended)!

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – Sawmill is this coming weekend and we would like to leave earlier than normal if possible. The plan is to arrive at the Scout Hut by 2:30 and leave by 3 PM. Please respond if this is a problem and we will work something out. It’s a 2.5 hour drive to Laurens, SC where Sawmill is located and we’d like to leave earlier in order to get there in time for a reasonable dinner. If this is a problem, please let me know we don’t want anyone to miss out.

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – Happy Mother’s Day to all the Scouting Moms! In Scouting, we talk a lot about service and leadership. But long before we ever earned a merit badge or tied a knot, our mothers were living examples of what it means to serve others without asking for anything in return. Thanks for all you do and I hope you’re enjoying a scouting free weekend and getting pampered at home.

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – Holy smokes. Worley’s Cave was an absolutely amazing experience. I think all the Scouts and Leaders who were there had a blast and it has already been requested again for next year. The trip was great and the weather worked with us pretty well and only rained hard at night. If you aren’t connected with Troop 84 on Facebook, I recommend you send a friend request and you can see all the pictures we took and some really cool videos showing the climbs and crawls.
