Welcome to the DUMC Troop 84 Website!

Boy Scout Troop 84 was chartered in March of 2011. We currently have 23 Scouts and are a very active Troop. We believe the principles of Scouting are best taught in the outdoors. We camp every month of the year and offer a mix of backpacking, car camping, lock-ins, and as always, summer camp.

We pull from Rock Springs and St. James Elementary, North & East Lincoln Middle & High School, Lincoln Charter, Stanley Middle, and Southlake Christian Academy. We serve our community by volunteering in many ways such as outdoor cleanups, helping the American Legion, collecting food for local food banks, and lots of other areas. We believe that serving others helps to instill the qualities of the Scout Oath and Law, encourages good citizenship, and will eventually produce responsible leaders who want to give back to their community.

We are currently chartered by the American Legion, Post 30 in Lincolnton, and were previously chartered by Denver United Methodist, who we still work closely with and meet in our facility behind their church.

If you are interested in participating in Scouts, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the "Contact Us" link to your left on the screen and fill in the information and someone with our Troop will be in contact with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Cory Sides - Scoutmaster

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – Our fall Court of Honor is scheduled for Friday, August 29. For the new Scouts, our Court of Honor is when we take time to give out awards, ranks, merit badges, and recognize all the hard work the Scouts have put in. Moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, and friends are all invited. Scouts should wear their full Class A uniforms. Amy Goodman, our Hospitality Chair, needs help making it special. Please sign up here to bring snacks, drinks, and more to really celebrate our Scouts.

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – We had a great campout this weekend! Parker’s Point did not disappoint. The Scouts got to kayak, canoe, paddle board, wakeboard, ski, and go tubing (everyone’s favorite). It was hot, but it was as good as you could ask for in an August campout in Charlotte. A special thanks to Mr. Marske and Mr. Yount for letting us use their boats and all the equipment.

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – Enjoy back to school! This coming weekend we’ll be camping at Parker’s Point. This is a great local campout right on Mountain Island Lake. We will enjoy the lake with swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and maybe some motor boat sports! This is a fun and easy campout. Sign up is open and will close on Tuesday night. Hopefully you can make it.

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents - Our next campout will be August 15 – 17 at Parker’s Point. This is a great local campout right on Mountain Island Lake. We will enjoy the lake with swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and maybe some motor boat sports! Also, due to the recent passing of Mr. Parker, this may be our last chance to camp there, and it’s been an 84 tradition. Sign up is now open. Hopefully you can make it.

Troop 84 Scouts, Leaders, and Parents – We had a great week at summer camp! I hope you all got great reports from your Scouts. Personally, my bug bites are about 80% healed, still catching up on sleep, my busted ear drum (from diving to the bottom of the lake) still sounds like I’m in a tunnel, and I’m still appreciating the wonder of AC. All that being said, I’d do it all over again!
